In its first year to compete as Air Rifle teams Chouteau students on all three teams, elementary, middle school and high school qualified to compete at the national level. The teams will shoot Saturday, December 2, 2023 in Festus MO at the Student Air Rifle National Championships
Elementary: Hunter Buchanan, Grady Bullock, Kamdyn Carnahan, Harper Emory, Jesse Frazier, Jacklyn Girty, Kade Miller, Konner Shive- all 5th graders
Middle School: eighth graders- Josh Durant, Jackson Green, seventh graders- Quincy Byrd, Maverick Poor, Klaysin Smith, sixth grader- Hannah Coblentz,
High School: Seniors- Savannah Coblentz, Koltyn Coverdale, George Gentry, Blake Stricklen, Junior- Jaylon King, Sophomore- Clinton Harris, Freshman-Dekota McDaniel
Air rifles were incorporated this year as a part of the Outdoor Education Program coached by Kenny Helton.
"The purpose of the introduction of air rifles is to introduce safety and basic air rifle skills to students and complement the safety of our shooting sports, Coach Kenny Helton said.
